Can I cancel my attendance at an OpenSeat meal?

As a guest, you may need to cancel an accepted OpenSeat invitation (for private events) or your confirmed place at a public event. In such cases, please inform your host of the cancellation through the event dashboard’s email functionality, and select ‘cancel’ at the bottom of the event page to trigger the cancellation process.

Can I bring young children with me to an event, and if so, do I need to book for them?

It depends on the event. Children can be added as extra seats when booking, when they will have a seat to themselves. If you are unsure whether the event is suitable for children, contact the host. For public events, once your request has been accepted, email your host to ask them about your specific circumstances, the age of your children, if there would be any further costs. If there are further costs for guests who are young children, this can be settled between you and your host when attending the meal.

I had a bad experience at an OpenSeat event and would like a refund. Can I get one?

As per section 13.1 in the T&C’s, all OpenSeat Meals are ideally enjoyed by hosts and their guests. Occasionally, however, expectations are not met, and if a guest believes that the host failed to fulfil an essential obligation of an OpenSeat meal, the OpenSeat team requests that you keep us informed (please email [email protected]). 

In addition to the review system for hosts, guests have until midnight on the day following the date on which the relevant OpenSeat meal was scheduled to take place, to request that the whole or a part of the payment is refunded. 

A request for a refund must be submitted by sending an email to [email protected]. The complaint must specify the OpenSeat meal reference, identify the host, specify the Transaction Fee amount, state how much the guest wishes to be reimbursed and give as much information as possible in relation to the problem / relevant failures / reasons for believing that payment should be refunded. 

OpenSeat will review the complaint and determine whether the acts or omissions complained of, warrant the refund requested. It is to be clearly expressed that OpenSeat will only refund for essential obligations not being met. Guests must be aware that once OpenSeat has released funds to the host, the platform is unable to offer guests any remedy.
